Welcome to the new season 2022/2023.

Dear All,

Welcome to the new season 2022/2023. We have thankfully finished our first season since the headache of COVID has retreated. We thank everyone for their efforts in keeping everyone safe.

Unfortunately volleyball paid a price for the pandemic and our number of league players has dropped by 150 players since 2019. However some good news is that we have had a bumper of teams registering for the new season. We are also really pleased with the unprecedented number of junior athletes and clubs we can count on. The future looks bright.
However it’s worth mentioning a huge part of our history. Charlie Orton who has contributed 50 years to the LVA has decided to retire. Having finished his 3 year term as our president and countless years running the LVA he finally is hanging up his referee official shirt. He is a man who needs few introductions in volleyball. The phrase “Everyone knows Charlie” has been with us for decades and his contribution is priceless to countless athletes over the years. You will be missed Charlie
We would like to also thank our leaving officers Krys Kowalski and Wiebke Meenenga.
This year at the AGM we had a recent record of new joining officers. It’s really encouraging to see new blood joining our workforce;
Sandra Simões the new Association Secretary. Stuart Fullerton the new Junior Development officer Ruben Duarte the new Referee Administrator. Gloria Francalanci the new Communications officer. Antonella Iannuccelli the new Training and Development officer.
It’s really exciting to see this much talent working for us. However please don’t think there aren’t opportunities to help for you. Because of our bumper crop of junior players we are really in need of a welfare officer … Someone who can set safeguarding standards to protect our kids.
Please keep thinking about your association and make sure to have a great season!!!
