The recent weekend was a busy one for the players and staff of IBB Polonia; there were two league matches and about 8 hours of travelling. On Saturday, Sheffield Hallam visited the capital and on Sunday it was the turn of IBB Polonia London to travel north to play Leeds Gorse.
So far it has been a „full house” of victories in the 2022/23 Superleague season with four out of four marking an excellent start to the season. On Saturday Greg Niski and his team took on Sheffield Hallam; the start was very shaky from both teams, but an uncharacteristic poor from the favourites, set saw Sheffield Hallam win 25-23. The next three sets were a quick change in quality and result, with IBB Polonia taking them in quick time and with it the win (23:25,25,12,25:17,25:14).
There was no time for a rest, and barely a shower, as the team travelled up the M1 to eat dinner and stay the night near Leeds. On Sunday IBB Polonia Leeds made short work of Leeds Gorse, stopping them gaining more than 20 points in any set: the quick win was over in three sets (17:25,18:25,16:25).
Next weekend IBB Polonia London play in the National Cup against Northampton Volleyball Club. In the previous round Coventry and Warwick Riga it was Niski’s team that quickly made progress to the subsequent round in the target of winning the double this season. The match takes place on 12th November.
