Women’s Premier 19-20 Season Summary

Three late sets secure title

The truncated season ended for Lionhearts East with a comparatively easy defeat of bottom of the table, University College, to enable the hosts to go top of the table on sets difference and, the season having been ended early, go top of the division.

It did not start well for them when they lost in five sets to Onyx in their opening game and they also lost to their biggest rivals, Rebels, in November when, playing at home, they slipped to a four set defeat.

Rebels needed five sets to overcome Crocs and dropped a set to ULU so despite an equal number of wins reached the half-way stage in second place.
It’s sad the competition could not continue but Rebels and Lionhearts share the title as a result of the Executive board’s decisions on ending the season early. IMKA, who had beaten Rebels in five sets, finished third to Inter Crocs although Crocs had won in four sets when the sides met, underlining just how close competition had been.

QKX claimed fifth place followed by Onyx and Giants, the only teams not to meet each other because fixture confusion: not down to either of the teams, meant their clash did not occur.
